Othello
This one is a very special poem I wrote to introduce our team of six members before a play in college. This was a play to emphasise on the importance of miscommunication in a conversation and what it can lead to. We decided to do a modern day rendition of Othello because it captures the essence of miscommunication and the tragedy that it can lead to so beautifully.
The story started walking along the pathway,
given a chance to do something different we decided to act in a play.
Like the pieces of a puzzle, we came close,
thought of many plays and Othello we chose.
The play has 5 scenes, wondered which one to select,
for all depict intense emotions, and it's important to show what's correct.
We decided the characters, we're working on the script,
it is a great responsibility, to make sure no detail is slipped.
Sulagna is the narrator she'll tell you the story,
of how Othello failed miserably, after his glory.
Othello, the moor, is played by Aseem,
who'll work hard to make sure there's justice to the theme.
Ritika plays Desdemona, daughter of the Royal,
who paid the highest price, in spite of being loyal.
Kushagra plays Iago, who's the real convict,
successful in manipulating, also the prime cause of conflict.
Cassio's character is played by Siddarth,
The survivor who lost everything, and missed a dagger in his heart.
Shweta plays Emilia, the wife who was betrayed,
fooled by Iago, gullible she's portrayed.
So far we have decided what each one of us will be,
we hope to portray well and do justice to the great tragedy.
